If you live in Chicago or wish you did, Five Things highly recommends the Quickies reading series. We got to catch the AWP Spectacular edition on Feb 12 and were blown away, literally blown away and required to gather our belongings, by the excellent readers assembled. Hosts Mary Hamilton and Lindsay Hunter tore it down with efficiency and grace.
Meanwhile, we here at Five Things are organizing for our March 27 show at the United States Art Authority. Stay tuned for the tickling feeling of teaser bios.

Five Things host Stacy Muszynski’s life story is up on Michael Kimball Writes Your Life Story: “Stacy Muszynski was born 3 months early when her family was camping. This involved state troopers, some illegal things on the highway, and a bunch of brothers and sisters who still insist Stacy ruined their vacation.”
Five Things performer and Eastsider Leah Moss was featured on the East Austinite website! She says: “I know a lot of the owners of these businesses that are coming in, and most of them have spent at least a decade on our side of the highway, so I wouldn’t call them outsiders. But, it’s a dangerous line, because over the past 25 years, poor working artists have come into the east side just to be able to afford their way of life and because of such a thriving artistic community, more people, rich people, want to get in on that ‘hot new thing.’ Damn you rich people! I hate you, and want to be you.”
Five Things inspires five people to create a new piece using inspiration based off a central theme. Our first month’s show was based on items purchased at the Dollar General, and some amazing things came out of the mouths of Owen Egerton, Southpaw Jones, Jack Kaulfus, and Stacy Muszynski.
Our second show featured the likes of Elizabeth Crane, Mike Hart, Randy Skidmore, Rudy Ramirez, Vince Martinez, and Legs Against Arms. These brave artists created pieces based off of shots; from maple syrup to tequila, no stone was left sober.
